MALAYSIAN GENERAL ELECTION 2013

I am first time voter! I can’t wait to see what will happen to my country after May 5^th 2013. 

This is like a ‘world cup’ fever for me! The heat is on!

Malaysian general election will be held on 5 May 2013, following the dissolution of the Parliament announced by the Prime Minister on 3 April 2013. This is one of the closest elections ever in Malaysia’s history  since independence from Britain 56 years ago, pitting Barisan National (BN) against the Pakatan Rakyat (PKR) opposition alliance, led by former Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

 

The polls will be fiercely contested between PM-Najib Razak's long-ruling National Front coalition and opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim's three-party alliance

A total 13,268,002 Malaysians registered on the roll and are eligible to vote in the 13th general elections. Nearly 2,500,000 new voters have registered for the election with most of them set to vote for the first time. [That’s the spirit]

Anwar Ibrahim, who leads the opposition, is seen as one of the great survivors of Malaysian politics.

 Anwar  Ibrahim's part of a broad coalition which includes moderates, Islamists and Malaysians of Chinese descent.

 

6th Prime Minister of Malaysia

Both Barisan Nasional (BN) and the opposition have made fighting corruption and reducing living costs central to their respective election manifestos. While Najib’s coalition has highlighted its experience in government and attracting investment, Anwar’s alliance is demanding electoral reform and an end to cronyism and monopolies.

Let’s vote for a better government for Malaysia ; cost of living, taxation laws, educational opportunities, health services are all key issues, as is the economic progress of the country and desires for social and political liberalization.
